Description
The second release in our ongoing series of legendary Independent record labels of the 1940's and 1950's features the Texas based 'Macys' label. Formed in 1948 the label enjoyed two huge hits on its first release with Lester Williams' 'Wintertime Blues' and Clarence Garlow's 'Bon Ton Roula'. This success enabled them to expand rapidly and record many great Texas based artists in both the Blues and Hillbilly fields including Harry Choates, Smokey Hogg and the great shouter Hubert Robison. Expansion was so fast that the label had ceased operation by 1951. Many first time on CD tracks make up this 26 cut overview of the label with historical data provided by Dave Penny and many rare illustrations.
