Description
Powerful seventies-inspired Blues-Rock featuring Killer riffs, hypnotic rhythms and memorable melodies.
Fred Lani (vocals and guitar) formed the band back in 1994 at the tender age of 17 together with bass player Papy X and drummer Marc Lhommel. As most youngsters stepping into the Blues, Fred was at the time mostly influenced by Blues-Rock guitar aces such as Peter Green, Jimi Hendrix, Rory Gallagher, Johnny Winter and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Fred however quickly dug deeper and also started listening to Albert and Freddie King and other legends of the genre. Being one hell of an ass-kicking Blues-Rock band anyway - they also benefited from yet another Blues-hype during the mid-nineties.
Releasing an EP and four albums, all of them critically acclaimed and the albums commercial best-sellers; they relentlessly toured Europe for nearly ten years - mostly the Benelux, France and Italy, often opening for International heavyweights of such as Canned Heat, Stan Webb's Chicken Shack, Poppa Chubby, Omar & The Howlers, Joe Cocker, and Robert Cray, to name but half a dozen.
By 2004 not only had the Blues boom come and gone, but the music industry was also suffering from a digital copying frenzy and illegal Internet downloads. Not so long after the release of their fourth album - which still charted by the way - and after an exhilarating ten years, Fred & The Healers played a farewell show for twelve hundred fans at the Ancienne Belgique on November 12, 2004 - and packed it in!. And now Fred and the Healers are back with a brand new line-up featuring founding member, and songwriter, Fred Lani on guitar and vocals, Cedric Cornez on bass and Nico Sand on drums.
