With classical training and a wealth of pop/rock experience, these symphonic dances are for large orchestra in four movements, including a Montuno.
Started piano at 4, at 5, played tenor drum in a production of The King And I, which his father conducted, performed his 1st original composition in concert at 11, won a 2nd prize medal for piano solo from the NYS Music Awards at 15. [P]
Touring with Man (CBS) and Jobriath (Elektra), as well as on the same bill with Sly Stone, Jimmy Page & The Yardbirds, Billy Joel, Gordon Lightfoot, Gladys Knight, Richie Havens, and the 5th Dimension. Classically trained with pop/rock experience - he began experimenting with a synthesis of various genres/styles [P]
1983: Wayne opened a new theater, The Taper, Too, for the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles with his metaphorical circus WIRE. [P]
1987: won $10,000 USD as national 1st place from the National Institute for Music Theater with NEON (A Street Opera). [P]
1993: was commissioned to write IN MEMORIAM: A CELEBRATION, by the Interfaith Concert of Holocaust Remembrance, premiering at Saint John the Divine in NY. Subsequently this work was linked with SINFONIETTA # 1: THE KLEZMER and AN ELEGY INTO MADNESS. The combined pieces were specifically commissioned for the 50th Anniversary of Israel, and titled A TRIPTYCH, which received its world première at Mandel Hall, the University of Chicago in January 1998
February 1995: his SYMPHONY #4-FUNK had its world premiere at the Janacek Theatre in Brno, The
Czech Republic. It sold out in 1 week 7 months in advance and was requested to be part of the
20th Century Music Festival and performed at The Rudolfinum in Prague October 21, 1995. The
recording of the work would ultimately find itself on the music play-list of President Bill Clinton's Air
Force One! [P]
11/25/98: as part of the reopening ceremonies of the Spanish Synagogue in Prague, THE
ROSENBERGER VARIATIONS had its world premiere in front of a standing room only audience,
including fifteen heads of state and a representative from the Vatican.
2000: NEON won an additional 25,000 DM prize in the International Prague Opera Competition
