Description
1-CD with 20-page booklet, 34 tracks, Playing time 73:47 minutes
Curtis Gordon will be 70 this year. and he's on his way to Europe to play showdates! Back in 1985 and 1986 we issued two LPs of Curtis's RCA Victor and Mercury recordings. The RCA sides (issued on 'You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet') predated rock 'n' roll but still included some incredible up-tempo country that pointed the way towards rockabilly (Rompin' And A Stompin' and Caffeine And Nicotine, for example).
The Mercury sides are justly acclaimed as some of the hottest country and rockabilly ever recorded. The 16 Mercurys include classics like Draggin', Rock Roll Jump And Jive, I'm Sittin' On Top Of The World... , and several others that once commanded a week's paycheque. Classic country fans shouldn't overlook this CD, either. Curtis Gordon epitomized that wonderful early Fifties Hank Williams-influenced country sound. As a bonus, we've added the two best Dollie recordings from the late Fifties.
