Description
Throughout the 1940s vocalist Georgia Gibbs was a regular on the Jimmy Durante-Gary Moore radio show but although she had been recording since 1936, chart success eluded her until 1950 when she scored a No. 5 hit with 'If I Knew You Were Comin' I'd 'Ve Baked A Cake'. She then quickly followed with another hit 'Play A Simple Melody', a duet with Bob Crosby. Both songs are included on this CD.
Georgia finally hit the big time in the 1950s, achieving several Top Ten hits worldwide and three golden discs. She was one of the most popular entertainers of her era, with a vivacious personality and was capable of performing in a variety of musical settings as well illustrated by this compilation that includes 'Cherry Pink And Apple Blossom White', 'Ballin' The Jack', 'A-Razz-A-Ma-Tazz' and 'Red Hot Mama'.
Of the 25 tracks featured here, 24 are making their first appearance on CD.
