Description

25 tracks first time on CD performed by the multi-talented and beautiful actress singer Barbara McNair, star of movies such as 'If He Hollers Let Him Go', 'They Call Me Mister Tibbs' and 'The Organization', and the first black women to host her own television show, a syndicated musical variety series, 'The Barbara McNair Show' back in 1969 when few black women were given such opportunities.

Barbara McNair had not one but four careers. She made movies, on television she was the first black woman in USA to have her own variety show in 1969 and she made records for the Coral label, Signature and Motown. She also headlined in posh supper clubs and was one of the highest paid entertainers to perform in Las Vegas, but all that was cut short when she died of cancer. This CD contains all the recordings she made for the Coral label in the late 1950s and are making their CD debut. As the title suggests, the bulk of the material is taken from Broadway shows.
