The German rock group Harlis came together in 1974 in Hannover, as Charly Maucher (bass, vocals) and Wolfgang Krantz (guitar, keyboards) had separated by JANE. Werner Löhr drummer had participated in an early form of the SCORPIONS, with Arndt Schulz came a young great guitar player. Although the distinctive raspy voice Maucher involuntarily reminded of the Krautrock legend JANE, Harlis tried to go their own way. The sound should sound international, lighter and looser. In fact, it managed the band, especially with their debut album, bringing a little West Coast flavor to Germany. 'Harlis' (Sky 001) was the first production, which published the former Brain manager Günter Körber in 1976 to his label brandnew label Sky Records, for the production studio legend Conny Plank was responsible. Together they produced an album , that earned a lot of enthusiasm. The opener 'BMW' offered the best background music for an imaginary road trip on an U.S. freeway, the album ends with the brilliant 'Married Love', which would thus also can be by the Allman Brothers, Outlaws etc. Here are the eight original songs on this CD plus two Bonutracks recorded by the four original musicians at a tribute concert for the dead drummer of JANE, Peter Panka.
