Description

Sitar meets Rock! New album by Harry Payuta, one of the best sitar players in the world.

Harry Payuta's 9th Album is for the most part very rock-emphasized with worldmusic-elements.

That means definitely a „Back to the Roots' for Payuta, a former member of countless rock bands (Vee Jays, Tav Falco, Amon Düül II, Electric Family ) as a singer, songwriter, guitarist and bass player.
On this album he has his Sitar style even more »westernized« and developed for more options for changing harmony, which with this modal instrument in the traditional Indian way of playing is not possible. Work on Zacatecoluca took place in Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador.

This time the FRIENDS are: Konstantin Danilova: Percussion (Russia), Carlos Mendoza: Guitar, and Melvin Hernandez: Vocals, Piano (El Salvador). Harry Payuta's current residence El Salvador has obviously left its Latin American influences. The title »Aqua del Mar«, sung by Melvin Hernandez, is certainly to be understood as a tribute to Carlos Santana.

Here Payuta can be heard for the first time after many years again as a guitarist, as well as on the title »Good to be anywhere«, a homage to Keith Richards.
