Youthful freshness meets amazing maturity, charisma meets understatement
The verdict of a man who not only helped shape the history of jazz on and off the stage, but also made Michael Jackson the 'King of Pop' as a producer, should be trusted: 'This young woman doesn't need to worry about her career. She is outstanding, and you will all hear from her in the future' - says Quincy Jones about Laura. What was still a prophecy for the then 21-year-old singer Laura Kipp in 2017, when the two met at the Stuttgart Jazz Open, is now confirmed. She presents her debut album 'Quiet Land' under the signum LAURA with a combination of attributes: Youthful freshness meets amazing maturity, charisma meets understatement, the freedom and intellectuality of jazz meets the immediate emotional power of pop, soul and chanson. The singer bridges the gap from her native Swabia to Paris, New York or Los Angeles, from radiant songwriter ballads to tough vocalese jazz, from soulful blues to string-saturated Hollywood sound. And she's already epitomized the unique power of jazz, which lies in the confluence of individual expression and shared creativity. Thus, in collaboration with her mentor and bassist Jens Loh as well as producer Cornelius Claudio Kreusch, a jazz album was created beyond the compulsive need to experiment, in the best sense 'old-fashioned' and modern at the same time. Like many singers, LAURA is not only about voice and technique, but above all about the art of tell-ing stories. And so on 'Quiet Land' she reviews the emotions, experiences and encounters of her career to date, from her beginnings in the Stuttgart jazz scene (with the perfect mix of Anne Czi-chowsky and Fola Dada as teachers) to her appointment to the BundesJazzorchester (BuJazzo) and her studies in Paris.
