Description

'one of the greatest bands in the world' -NY Times. 'A Post-jazz, post-rock, post-everything sonic experience' -Guardian

Formed in Australia the late 1980s by Chris Abrahams, Tony Buck and Lloyd Swanton, the NECKS have been hailed by the New York Times as 'one of the greatest bands in the world'. 'Entirely new and entirely now...They produce a post-jazz, post-rock, post-everything sonic experience that has few parallels or rivals.' (LONDON GUARDIAN).

Eight of their best CDs are now in this sturdy box, at a very appealing price. Includes their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th CDs- HANGING GARDENS, AETHER, DRIVE BY, THE BOYS, and their 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th - CHEMIST, TOWNSVILLE, SILVERWATER, & MINDSET.

* ARIA (Australian Record Industry Association) award winners 2004, 2006.
The Necks are a unique and extraordinary trio who have found a musical form that so far (after 25 years) no one has even attempted to imitate. A cult group in their home country, Australia, a decade ago they began to tour in Europe, which has now become their second home, after the release of their first CD there - which garnered extraordinarily over-the-top reviews. Journalists are still falling over themselves whenever they appear, a phenomenon that's only really understandable if you've heard or seen them. They deliver.

With no major label or heavy promotion - on the strength of their work alone - they have appeared at just about every major festival, tour regularly without having to really try and release records whenever they feel like it. They seem to prefer it that way. 'Nothing short of miraculous' - FINANCIAL TIMES (UK)

'At..the 100-year point in jazz's evolution, conjuring new spirits out of old spells is a difficult mojo to work. But people are doing it..case in point is The Necks' - JAZZ TIMES (USA)

'..no other group in the world sounds quite like The Necks...extraordinary..'
- THE TIMES (UK)

'I think the new music I would find it hardest to do without, fifty years after Kind of Blue, is that produced by The Necks'. - Critic Richard Williams, in his book BLUE MOMENT
