During a typical late night summer thunderstorm, the Jones family falls victim to an unspeakable crime. The neighborhood is devastated as they try to figure out why anyone would want to harm this family. Set in modern day Newark, New Jersey, Travis is the town's favorite son. He grew up 'around the way' and owns the local barbershop. He's a family man and his wife and children mean the world to him. Like most men that make it out of the projects, all he ever wanted was a better life for his family. As news of the tragedy spreads everyone asks the same question: 'Who would do such a thing'?
As the police investigate the crime, things are revealed and the upstanding family man image is questioned. Was Travis's barbershop just a front for illegal activity? As witnesses begin to come forth, things seem to point to Bear, the drug dealer that runs the streets. His Death Before Dishonor gang have made a name for themselves by annihilating the competition and a recent squabble over unpaid debt has cast Travis as public enemy number one. Could this former best friend really be responsible for such a heinous act? And more importantly, if a debt is owed, how far will Bear go to collect?
From the moment Sevens and Malone are assigned to investigate the case, they feel the pressure from the Mayor's office, the press, and the general public to make an arrest. While Bear is the most likely suspect, his propensity to avoid prosecution in the past make them eager to investigate every angle. Bear is well versed in the law and knows his rights. If Stevens and Malone want to get him off the streets once and for all they need an airtight case, which leaves no room for error. As the story begins to unfold, Stevens and Malone put it all on the line to make an arrest. Will Probable Cause be enough to bring a killer to justice or will secrets left untold be the key to the real story?
