Description
Some murders should be left unsolved.
A university professor, Matthew Alford, suspects the CIA killed a Hollywood screenwriter to protect a government secret. Alford believes it was an assassination, disguised as a car accident. So, he contacts a filmmaker to document the evidence he has accumulated. When Alford receives a phone call warning him to leave the case alone, he heads to Hollywood to conduct his own investigation. With unprecedented access to key witnesses and the family of the deceased, he builds a case for murder and thinks he has uncovered the real reason the Hollywood screenwriter found himself in deep water. Later, however, it becomes clear that there is a fundamental flaw in his case for a CIA assassination. He finds compelling evidence which supports the idea that the man might not be dead at all and his death was faked. Alford returns to the UK torn between the two hypotheses. His last hope is an informant who has agreed to help find proof despite his concerns that it's dangerous. Unfortunately, days after the informant agrees to help, he too is found dead in a shopping mall. The audience is left to decide what really happened as Alford appears to lose his sanity and succumbs to an investigation entangled in mystery, scandal, threat, and a hunger for the truth.
