Classic British television!

Based on the play by Tom Brennand and Roy Bottomley, Not On Your Nellie is a classic London Weekend Television sitcom from the 1970s. Northern spinster Nellie Pickersgill (Hylda Baker) inherits a shabby London pub which she decides to run with the help of her father Jed (John Barrett). The pub's regulars and staff are an eclectic bunch of crazy and unpredictable characters that you will not soon forget! Hylda Baker is best remembered for the role of Nellie Pledge in the television sitcom 'Nearest and Dearest' (1968). This ran for seven series and spawned stage and film spin-offs. In 'Not on Your Nellie' (1974), her character of Nellie Pickersgill is a thinly disguised version of Nellie Pledge. Baker is now a major cult figure and is often quoted by today's British comediennes as an influence and a trailblazer. A one-women play about her life and career called 'She Knows You Know' has played in London's West End and toured throughout the UK and Baker is becoming known to new audiences through satellite and cable TV showings and reissues of her TV and film work.
