A little Hannibal Buress, a little George Carlin, a little Dave Chappelle, and a little Debo from Friday. Well, okay, that last one's been fixed' but it's going to take a while to get the story from Darryl Lenox, live at the Vogue Theater in Vancouver. Because there's a fairly short one, and a long, but satisfying one. The short story of Lenox's blind ambition starts with a disinclination to watch hockey (and resulting drunkenness and fisticuffs when exposed to a hockey bar) and mostly ends with skipping a specialist to be featured in a local TV special. Whoops! The long version is why we're bringing you Lenox's finely-tuned 'Blind Ambition.' It'll take you from the difference between American ghetto fight rules and Canada taxi stand fight rules, through international rivalry and the medical industry, to God making suicide jokes, Canadian humility vs. NFL players, the difference between sympathy and empathy (via inebriated George W. Bush YouTube rants revealing how Kennedy and Tupac Shakur really died), a deportation, a family tree that left little choice between being a preacher or a 'ho-whisperer,' porridge follies, the one key to preserving a relationship, and an weird, wonderful fairy tale ending replete with an apology on behalf of the government of Canada.Darryl Lenox has literally decades of stand up accolades to show off, one foot in Canada and one foot in the U.S., and an unmistakable comic voice. We're positively proud (sorry, Canada, we know you prefer humility) to let you feast your senses on Lenox's 'Blind Ambition.'
