Re-release of 1998s album by the masters of neo-classic music in a new digipak edition.
Elend's work can best be described as very dark and oppressing symphonic music. Although similar to classical composers, they have adopted a different approach to composition. The real body of the CD is the music: using a symphony orchestra and a choir of about a dozen sopranos, this is strong, gutsy, music to rival Wagner at his most bellicose. Elend, masters of neo-classic music, show their superb musical and literary intellectuality with this, the third and darkest volume in the Officium Tenebrarum Triology, ranging from furious to soft songs filled with sorrow and melancholy. Whereas the first mass of The Officium was marked by despair and the second one by rebellion and violence, the last one is placed under the sign of death. The album opens with chaos which is really so controlled and yet so unpredictable. The soaring voices, the beautiful orchestration and the 'demonic' voices meld together into a sound that cannot be adequately described. A MASTERPIECE. New digipak edition.
