Fonnesbæk and Beggio themselves bring to life the intricate slow tempo - 50 bpm - of Next to You, a lyrical gem in which the double bass solo circles the theme to generate further melodies that deserve to be transcribed and kept under lock and key. Something similar happens in Gi, with the added value of Mauro Beggio chiseling that one-minute bass improvisation into a continuous cycle of original variations. The title track, Perspectives, strategically placed at the album's midpoint, begins with an ostinato that--through broad groups of triplets--ushers us into improvisational moments where Polga displays a wide range of melodic solutions with remarkable breadth (already evident on his 'Doors', 2024, also for Red).
