Musicians:- Ian Gillan, John McCoy, Colin Towns, Steve Byrd and Pete Barnacle
London's Marquee Club is as synonymous with rock music as Marshall Amps, Fender Guitars and all other iconic brand names that have shaped the sound of music through the decades. 1978 was a very busy period for Gillan newly formed to perform centre rock - the ground Ian had deserted when he formed Ian Gillan Band in 1976. IGB were no more and The Marquee was to be a 'warm up' for Gillan's appearance at the Reading Festival two months later where they took the audience by storm. Fame and fortune beckoned but only with a couple of line up changes around a year later. Never to play The Marquee again as demand for the band meant they would play the larger Rainbow Theatre and Hammersmith Odeon, enjoy history in the making. Crank up very loud.
