Howlin' Wolf - Backdoor Blues (CD)
Release Date: 05/06/14
One the most electrifying performers in Blues music history; Howlin' Wolf was a principal of electric Chicago Blues during the genre's halcyon days in the l950s and early l960s. An oversized, intimidating figure who stood well over six feet tall and weighed in around three hundred pounds, his theatrical stage persona and sheer physical intensity gave a different meaning to the Blues during nearly every performance. Many of his records would eventually become standards of the Chicago Blues idiom, but their greatest potential was reached when Rock bands the world over, such as the Rolling Stones (Little Red Rooster), The Yardbirds (Smokestack Lightning), Cream (Spoonful), and Jeff Beck (I Ain't Superstitious) started re-recording these standards, selling millions of copies in the process.
