isabelle-olivier-open-lp
Isabelle Olivier - Open (LP) PREORDER

A mother-son duo 13 years in the making: harp and guitar, jazz and pop, melancholy and play - Open, Isabelle & Raphael Olivier's most intimate record.

Isabelle Olivier and her son Raphael Olivier are recognised, individually and together, as both performers and composers of real stature. For the past 13 years their musical worlds have intertwined on a shared sonic journey built around harp and guitar. Open, their new album, is the fruit of the travels, encounters and moments the two have shared along the way -- an ode to openness, an invitation to open our arms and hearts, pause for a moment, breathe, and reconnect with what truly matters. From jazz standards to modern improvisation, with a nod to British pop, Open moves through a world of curiosity, camaraderie and musical invention. The duo's two sensibilities -- Isabelle's, melancholic and introspective; Raphael's, playful and adventurous -- are in constant dialogue, alternating rhythmic interplay with unexpected melodic turns and pockets of silence. The record follows jazz's thread into folk (Woman Farmer) and swing (Bread Blues), before Raphael's intimate voice takes over on covers of Radiohead's No Surprises and Moon River, and his cello colours Yarrow. Isabelle's harp -- by turns a wind instrument, a percussion set, birdsong, or an electronic pulse -- closes the record as it opened it, transformed by the journey. Isabelle Olivier, a jazz harpist with a highly distinctive style, has composed, arranged and recorded 13 albums and toured 25 countries, scored 11 films (four with Agnès Varda), and collaborated with Peter Erskine, Didier Lockwood, Ernie Adams, Mitch Haupers and Paul Wertico. A 2024 Villa Albertine resident in Washington DC, she is now based in Chicago. Raphael Olivier is a composer, producer, guitarist and songwriter whose catalogue of 300+ tracks has drawn over 2 billion views and 15 million streams worldwide; his debut novel, La Mélodie d'Oklahoma, winner of the Paris FoRTE Prize, is due in 2026.

Track Listing

Bird in the Forest

Woman Farmer

Bread Blues

Shapes (Duo)

Looking for Dad

How Many Miles

No Surprises

On the Edge

Moon River

Yarrow

Shapes (Mix)

Additional Details

Label: Rewound Echoes

Genre: Jazz

Language: English

Run Time: 52 mins

Region: 0

Release Date: 12/11/26

UPC: 3521381603811
