Despite their shared CV particulars this is the first time Sutton and Evans have recorded together.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eDear Carol is based on a very short dream Sutton had where he had a chat about the state of the world with Carol White, star of Cathy Come Home, Up the Junction (the original teleplay) and Poor Cow. Sutton wrote the tune and sat on it for ages. He thought the lyrics seemed a bit conversational, the stuff of a duet. Now an American citizen, he turned to one of his favourite English singers, and old friend Rachel Evans. She said 'It's a good song, Sutton,' so the record was made.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eEvans also added backing vocals to the b-side, a song about someone getting a tattoo declaring their love for their partner, called 'Drawn Together.' The backing vocals were a surprise that made Sutton cry.
