He uniquely combined serious operatic stage roles with recordings and concert performances not only of operatic pieces, but also songs from operettas and musicals, Neapolitan ballads and the popular hits from Tin Pan Alley, so that long after his untimely death from cancer in 1948, he remained a much-loved performer among the generation who grew up with his music. This 47-track 2-CD collection comprises selected recordings from throughout his career released on the Parlophone /Odeon label, including famous tenor pieces from both the classical and popular repertoire. It features favourites like 'My Heart And I', 'You Are My Heart's Delight', 'Nessun Dorma' (from 'Turandot'), 'The Flower Song' from Carmen), 'Serenade' (from 'The Student Prince'), 'The Merry Widow Waltz', 'Lover Come Back To Me' (from 'New Moon', 'Vienna City Of My Dreams', 'O Sole Mio', 'Roses Of Picardy' and many more. It's a collection chosen to focus on fine performances of great melodies, and as such is an ideal showcase for his highly distinctive and adaptable vocal style.

Track Listing
Disc 1:

Lenski's Aria

Come Back To Sorrento

Addio Fiorito Asil

Non Piangere Liu

Nessun Dorma

Am Stillen Herd (From Die Meistersinger Von Nurnberg)

Prize Song

O Sole Mio

Song Of The Volga Boatman

You Are My Heart's Delight

Vienna, City Of My Dreams

Ach So Fromm

Mattinata

Serenata

Lippen Schweigen (Merry Widow Waltz)

Pagan Love Song

Manon

Recondita Armonia

E Lucevan Le Stelle

The Song Of Love

Santa Lucia

Plaisir D'amour

I Hear You Calling Me

Disc 2:

Roses Of Picardy

Serenade

On With The Motley

Girls Were Made To Love And Kiss

Ah Sweet Mystery Of Life

One Night Of Love

One Day When We Were Young

Waltz Of My Heart

Ave Maria

Love's Old Sweet Song (Just A Song At Twilight)

I'll Walk Beside You

Begin The Beguine

One Alone

Only A Rose

The World Is Waiting For The Sunrise

All The Things You Are

Lover Come Back To Me

Once There Lived A Lady Fair

Dearly Beloved (You Wer Never Lovelier)

My Heart And I

Without A Song

We'll Gather Lilacs

Flower Song

Additional Details

Label: Acrobat

Genre: Classical

Language: English

Run Time: 142 mins

Region: 0

Release Date: 12/11/26

UPC: 824046362126

https://mvdshop.com/products/richard-tauber-the-essential-collection-odeon-parlophone-recordings-1919-1945-cd
