Indeed, the lowest instrument in the woodwind group leads a shadowy existence as a soloist on recordings and stage. There is, however, more to be discovered on this CD than a rare solo instrument. Klaus Thunemann, regarded as 'one of the greatest bassoonists of all time,' presents 'Music at the Court of Gotha', a recording featuring music by the undeservedly little-known composer Ludwig Böhner.
