Each song explores aspects of Ireland's mythology, history, spirituality and landscape while celebrating the country's ancestral identity. The title derives from the Irish term Mac Tíre ('Son of the Land'), the traditional name for the wolf, symbolising Ireland's ancient wilderness and bond with nature. Musically, the album combines heavy, black, death, doom and thrash metal with Irish instrumentation including whistles, bouzouki, bodhrán, Uilleann pipes, fiddle and cello. Tracks such as 'Macha', 'Hy Brasil (Isle of Mists)', 'Sliabh Gullion', 'Our Once Wooded Isle', 'Mallachtaí' and the epic closer 'She of the Sorrows' draw on Celtic mythology, legendary figures and natural landmarks. Recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by Dave Briggs at Stonecircle Studios with additional recording by Ashley Cleland, the album balances traditional instruments with the band's heavier arrangements.
