Description
Victor Silvester is one of Britain's best-remembered dance band leaders.
Victor Silvester is one of Britain's best-remembered dance band leaders, a musician whose music via hundreds of recordings and radio broadcasts brought joy into the lives of millions of people before, during and after the Second World War, and whose popularity among devotees of ballroom dancing music continued until his death in 1978 and indeed through to the present day.
Ballrooms had lost one of it's greatest champions but fortunately the memories and the music continues to live on... Today Silvester's son, Victor junior, conducts the orchestra that his father started more than fifty years ago, while frequent reissues of Silvester senior's own recordings can still be heard in old-time dance venues throughout the UK.
The recordings featured here are all firm favourites from the vast repertoire of Victor Silvester and prove that the man and his music will never die.
