While love songs dating from the late 1950s and early 1960s have rarely been as popular as they are today, when the same hits from yesteryear again and again clog up compilation CDs and achieve heavy rotation on oldies stations, the thrill of the groove, the comforting appeal and nostalgic allure become diluted and ultimately lost - no matter how well crafted such compositions are.

This two disc set disposes of the familiar, the overplayed and the downright grating to present a collection of lost classics from the same era and genre as their more familiar cousins, but featuring songs as it does that will often be heard by the listener for the first time, presents this classic era of songwriting under a completely different light.

While none of us - whether or not our age would allow for such - can relive the effect of hearing, say, 'Halfway To Paradise' or 'Only The Lonely' for the first time, we can dig through piles of rarities of similar genre, era and, crucially, quality and discover tunes equally as timeless, but which only missed their moment because the DJs of the day weren't playing R'n'B tinged records that month, or, more likely still, their labels couldn't afford the substantial sums that were often required to persuade jocks just how good their latest waxing was.

This compilation makes searching for the 'golden egg' available to all those who like nothing better than the discovery of forgotten classics and lost masterpieces.
