A man with a guitar sound chock-full of emotion, Duane Allman was probably the finest and most influential electric slide player of the modern era. His dedication to the mastery of his instrument was second to none and his creative and improvisational skills raised the bar several notches for all those who came along in his wake.

His best known lick is the riff from Layla, which still unbeknown to many was performed by Duane on the recording we all know so well. Indeed Eric Clapton wrote in his autobiography that Duane Allman was the musical brother he never had but wished he did.
