This is the dirty, low down hard edged country from the depression years of the late 1920s and early 1930s through to the mid 50s, the point at which the honky lost its tonk and the syrup arrived. From Bob Wills and Hank Williams to Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline this is probably the best country collection there's ever been, featuring 100 tracks from the classic period when country was the soundtrack to everyday life.
