Teneral Records is pleased to announce its debut release of Television Hill's Twilight. Television Hill has been trafficking in folk futures and transmitting intermittently to Baltimore and vicinity for well over 7 years now. On Twilight, Rob Wilson, Dave Heumann, David Bergander and Walker converge in loose collusion, stretching the tethers of tradition clear across the rim of the western world. Recorded by Rob Girardi at Mount Royal Studios in Baltimore, MD in June of 2003, this epic CD delivers 13 original numbers plus a thunderous rendition of the traditional gospel tune 'John the Revelator.' Twilight also features performances by members of Madagascar and Cicaeda on 'Bamako Express' and 'Gunny Shiloh,' as well as a memorable fiddle performance by Jennifer Hutt on 'Jewel of Texas.' Singer / songwriter Rob Wilson targets a rich tapestry of sources for the words and works that emerge on Twilight. His lyrics evoke a myriad mixture of meta-myth, family folklore and personal reflection. And while it's true that Rob is a curious curator of the collective unconscious, one doesn't have delve too deeply into Twilight to realize that there is something satisfying on this album for every listener. Each raucous rhyme is richly rooted in the fertile fodder of shorey blues, Winchester waltzes, staggered stomps, and other organic and archaic originations. Still, it is Wilson's collaborative associations with the nationally recognized musicians who assemble on Twilight which contribute most cunningly to Television Hill's unique chimerical sound. These tenured ties have only served to strengthen the sense of synergy that permeates this masterfully crafted collection of songs. Rob Wilson has been a familiar figure on the Baltimore music scene since the early 90's, first as guitarist for the psychedelic noise band Tribal Voice and then as front man for Ambiguous City upstarts Antenna Farm. He later became publisher of the Gadfly Monthly Music Calendar, as well as promoter of Ottobar's Baltimore Antifolk Night for a number of years. More recently, Rob co-wrote a handful of songs that appeared on Abouretum's Long Live the Well-Doer with Dave Heumann. Dave Heumann is the front man for Arbouretum (Boxtree Records). Dave delivers heavy-handed harmonics on lead and baritone guitars, keys, vocals and even percussion. Dave has performed with The Anomoanon, the Bonnie 'Prince' Billy band, Cass McCombs, Human Bell and the Translucents. David Bergander is the drummer for Celebration (4AD Records). David provides both axis and accent on drums, percussion, vocals and a bit of lap steel guitar to boot. David has performed with Love Life, Cicaeda, Arbouretum, and the Translucents. Walker is the front man for Baltimore's premier old-time string band the Walker and Jay Show. Walker eagerly assists with arranging and lends a lively legion of talents on bass, vocals, guitar and drums. Walker has performed with Arbouretum, The Anomoanon, and Madagascar.
