Description
One of the best songwrietrs of the last decades
Another amazing collection of eight songs from Eric Bogle, probably one of the greatest songwriters of the past several decades, plus two from his long-time buddy and touring partner John Munro, one from Peter Titchener, who also produced the album, plus another written by Simon Wilkins, as a tribute to his nephew the late Billy Spencer, and sung by Eric. As usual the subjects covered by Eric are varied as are the session musicians Eric gathered around him in the studio. They are John Munro (acoustic guitar, mandolin lead vocals on 'Best Of Times' and 'Voices' plus harmony vocals); Peter Titchener (acoustic guitar and lead vocals on 'Farewell Fitness'); Emma Woodcock (fiddle and cello); Jon Jones (percussion); Damien Steele-Scott (bass); Kathie Renner (piano); Peter Franche (accordion); Leonard Cohen (slide guitar); The Bogle-ette's (additional singers on 'Voices'). It was of course Eric Bogle who wrote the classic 'And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda' and 'No Man's Land' ('The Greenfields of France'), which were placed No. 1 and 5 respectively in a 'Celebrity Top 50 Songs Poll' in a national newspaper, above such international artists as Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, Leonard Cohen and John Prine.
