Description
Starting her career in the 1940s, the legendary Julie Wilson has appeared in films, Broadway and West End musicals, television, Las Vegas, cabaret and recorded countless albums. At nearly 80, Julie Wilson is still performing in elegant supper clubs and packing 'em in, and as this is written Julie has been booked to appear in London's Pizza On The Park in May 2004. Julie is no stranger to British audiences for, apart from her many cabaret appearances in London over the years, she was based here in the early 1950s. She arrived from New York to play Lois/Bianca in the original production of 'Kiss Me, Kate' at the Coliseum, subsequently taking over the lead from Mary Martin in 'South Pacific' before starring opposite Arthur Askey in the musical 'Bet Your Life'. Selections from 'Kiss Me, Kate' and 'Bet Your Life' were preserved on 78s plus Julie sang the role of Miss Adelaide in a very rare studio cast recording of 'Guys & Dolls'. These London recordings plus 2 bonus tracks she performed as a duet with Jerry Wayne (leading man of London 's 'Guys & Dolls') are featured on this Sepia CD.
