Improvisational quintet featuring Sylvia Bruckner on piano, Quentin Rollet on sax, Yoram Roslio on bass, Jaroslav Stastny on synth and Ivan Palacky
This album was recorded in Budapest, Hungary when these five masterful musicians were invited to perform together at a festival. Quentin Rollet started playing the alto saxophone at the age of 11 and the sopranino saxophone at 37. After a few years spent unlearning the teaching of the conservatory, he devoted himself to free improvisation. This led him to find himself on record or on stage with groups as varied as Nurse With Wound, Prohibition or The Red Krayola. Sylvia Bruckner is an internationally acclaimed pianist, working in the field of experimental contemporary music and improvisation. Her approach to various instruments (including zither, accordion, and piano) is bold and innovative, utilizing the instruments' full range to explore new harmonic structures and sound clusters, freeing tonality from traditional constraints. Ivan Palacky ikes to take part in one-shot improvisational groups or duos as well as playing solo performances. ince 2005 his main interest has been to dig out sounds from an amplified Dopleta 160 knitting machine from the 1970s. Yoram Rosilio is a bassist in the fields of Jazz, improvised, contemporary and traditional music. He has been working with dance, performance, painting, Theatre, sculpture and other disciplines. Jaroslav Šťastný Czech musician and (contemporary music) composer. He was born in Brno and teaches The Faculty of Music of the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts. Together they create a wonderful example of what great music can be improvised by five people who spontaneously perform with skill and vision.
