Description
Susan Wolf songs are about the story of her life
While Susan Wolf tried out different styles on her first two albums under the name Soe Tolloy, the new album now bears clear contours. The album''I Have Visions''was produced by the ''Danish Vikings,'' as Susan affectionately calls them, the multi-instrumentalists Nikolaj Heyman and Peter Dombernowsky. They are known for their collaboration with international greats such as Giant Sand, Mark Lanegan or Isobel Campbell. The renowned musicians have sensitively arranged Wolf's songs with typical old American instruments such as Pedal Steel, Dobro and Twangy Tremolo guitar. Susan wrote the songs for the album in Denmark, her country of longing, where she finally moved the entire production.
It is this tension between Nordic melancholy and warm Americana sound in which Susan Wolf sings through the ups and downs of her life. On the entirely black cover, her silhouette blurs with the dark color in the background. Susan Wolf runs her hands through her hair as if pulling herself out of the blackness that surrounds her. The fact that the album now appears under her birth name is also a sign of this lived emancipation and the return to herself. I Have Visions is a passionate plea to follow her inner voice and vocation. It's a ''Always re-erect yourself'' and don't give up, says Susan Wolf. The essential thing is life itself. ''All at once, it's clear / I know what to do and why I'm here / The wind of change is blowing straight / Ain´t no other way''.
