Music from over 50 years of composing: rock 'n' roll, pop, blues, jazz, Latin, folk, country, rap, classical suite, sonata, divertimento & etude
In 1953, my father started teaching me piano when I was at the age of four. By the time I was five, he placed me in the orchestra pit, playing tenor drum, for a regional production of Rogers and Hammerstein's THE KING AND I, which he was conducting. I obviously had a good enough sense of beating time for him to do so. By the age of eleven, I publicly performed my first composition. By sixteen, I became a professional musician with the caveat, demanded by my father, I had to become a composer.
Song form is essential to master before any composer can move on to larger compositional forms. From a collection of over three hundred songs out of four hundred plus works, this is the second Panoply collection ranging in styles from ballad to rock 'n' roll, vaudeville to art song, Motown to country, funk to pop, Calypso to lullaby, blues to jazz, next wave to rap, to classical. Also demonstrated in this anthology are the larger constructs: suite, divertimento and sonata.
Other than where indicated, all the audio files in this four CD set were composed, performed and recorded by myself: music, lyrics, arrangements, orchestration, lead vocals, background vocals, as well as the performance of every instrument.
This would not have been possible without the advancement of technology and A.I. (artificial intelligence), which allowed the developers to create the sound files, samples and loops I was to use.
