Over 200 of his best photos from the flight deck and from the ramp on six continents.
Christiaan Van Heijst is a 747 pilot and one of the world's leading aviation photographers. Cargopilot is a luxury coffee table volume that brings together over 200 of his best photos from the flight deck and from the ramp on six continents, from technically fascinating views of the operation to evocative earthscapes and cloudscapes. The locations read like a spy thriller - from the arctic wastes of Greenland to the steamy jungles of the Congo. There is a chapter about his piloting career before the 747, flying turboprops in Afghanistan and West Africa; and a chapter about the night his jumbo passed over a huge area of underwater lights in the middle of the Pacific, which made world news at the time and remains unexplained. This new edition, the Captain's Edition, features extra photos, as well as introductory essays by Christiaan and publisher Charles Kennedy, and is essential for fans of aviation, geography, and photography.
