Description

Chris Washburne he has been called 'one of the best trombonists in New York' by The New York Times and was voted as a 'Rising Star of the Trombone' in both the 2008 and 2009 Downbeat Critic's Poll. He has recorded over 150 albums and performed with numerous jazz and Latin groups including, Tito Puente, Anthony Braxton, Duke Ellington Orchestra, and Ruben Blades. His own group, SYOTOS, was founded 20 years ago and has become what TimeOUT New York calls a 'Latin Jazz institution.'  They have held the longest running Latin jazz gig in the City's history, playing every week for 19 years.  They are one of the busiest and most in demand Latin jazz groups in New York.  The band's members are alumni from the Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, and Gato Barbieri bands and they continue in those leader's footsteps, pushing the genre into the 21st century.  Their past four releases on Jazzheads Records have received critical acclaim and '˜Paradise In Trouble' was nominated as the best Latin jazz record of 2004.
