Description
Yesterday's Man dressed well, had sophisticated tastes, integrity ... and most of all he listened to good melodic music.
Yesterday's Man is a balanced combination of our instrumental and vocal personalities. It represents a continued commitment to melody and original composition, a direction that began for us about fifteen years ago. Some things should never change. So what's different about this record' A unique sound in Victor Provost, our skillful steel pan player. Of course we brought back our sultry vocalist Mrs. Lori Williams-Chisholm. At times she leads the ensemble, other times she secretly functions as another instrument (vocalese). We also brought back our veteran groove master Jimmy 'Junebug' Jackson on the drums (hootie hoo), whose musical contributions bring the record up a notch. Three different horn soloists also grace this recording. Brian Settles handles the tenor and soprano sax work. Antonio Parker joins us on alto sax. Both are soloists who dig into the changes. Doug Pierce (aka Doug E. Fresh) provides a fresh horn sound. His flugelhorn work blends seamlessly with the ensemble.
