Description
The latest and possibly last chapter in the Morsel saga has finally been told, and the result is Para Siempre. It is the first album containing newly recorded material since 1997's I'm a Wreck and takes listeners into territory previously unexplored by these noise artists from Ann Arbor, MI. For one example, Brian Hussey, who has played bass since the group's conception in 1991, has now moved over to drums, which changes the dynamics of the group's sound considerably. Songs like 'Sines' and 'Meadow' show that Morsel is very capable of producing material that is more pop-orientated while still retaining the eclectic edge that sets them apart from other bands. Throughout the album, though, many of the songs are heavily layered with Fathead's sound collages and loops; the result being a very busy-sounding album, which at times could confuse the average listener. Nonetheless, it has a more upbeat and warm tone than previous releases with its marriage of unconventional sounds and solid songwriting.
