Chris Washburne has never been shy about embracing his vast musical influences. While some might be uneasy about many combinations, Chris always makes sure to treat every genre with the respect it deserves. 'I don't shy away from calling my music Latin jazz,' Washburne says. 'But I've also written in scholarly literature about the problems involved when you put a label on things. So I'm trying to push the boundaries and borders involved in that or any other category.' Chris engages both the brain and body, combining Latin rhythms and percussion with jazz, funk, R&B, hip-hop, gospel, Caribbean, and Afro-Cuban.
