Classical Indian music by two masters of the genre
Sangeet is a Sanskrit term for music. Classical Indian music has its roots in meditation music and is referenced already in the oldest Hindu scriptures. Classical Indian music has one of the most complex and complete music systems in the world. The different ragas are said to affect different parts of the body and mind.
Sudeshna Bhattacharya is a maestro musician in the rich tradition of North Indian classical music. Her instrument is the Sarod which she studied under one of the greatest Sarod maestro in history, the legend Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. On this recording Sudeshna is also playing the Mohan Vina. Mohan Vina, a modified sarod, created by Sudeshna's father's Guru, sarod player Radhika Mohan Maitra in the 1940s. Must not be confused with the later modified Hawaiian guitar wich is also called the Mohan Veena.
Tanmoy Bose is one of the most well known tabla players in the world.
Tanmoy have worked on numerous projects worldwide. He participated on three Grammy Award winning recordings. For many years he was the regular accompanist of Ravi Shankar.
