Willie Kent is the most famous bass player & singer from the Westside Chicago´s. He was born in Inverness, Mississippi and played in Chicago´s West- and Northside blues clubs from the 50´s until his death in March 2006. He had a band of his own - THE GENTS, where the Chicago´s best guitar players played great Licks - the best of all was Johnny B. Moore (also present on this CD!!), but also Jake Dawson, Carlos Showers, Willie Davis and Luther Adams were present on different record sessions, Ken Barker on piano was also a main part of the 'Gents' , his strong singing was the center of all record sessions. He was present on all record sessions of the Wolf Label in the 80´s and 80´s and made also a concert tour in Austria (1995).
When he was in Chicago, he played mostly on B.L.U.E.S. on Halsted and on Blue Chicago on N. Clark St.
With Willies death the most impression voice in the Chicago Blues scene disappeared forever.
