Produced by Gene Simmons of KISS, the hard-hitting WOW album was the first of two Wendy O. Williams albums where, with the goal of focusing more on Wendyâs vocals. The album was picked by KERRANG!âs Malcolm Dome as his âAlbum of the Yearâ, and Wendy got a Grammy Nomination for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance of the Year as a result. Players on the album in include Wes Beech (lead and rhythm guitar),Michael Ray, a Simmonsâ discovery (lead and rhythm guitar), T.C. Tolliver (drums), and Gene Simmons, under the pseudonym âReginald Van Helsingâ (bass). Special guest players include Paul Stanley (guitar on âReady to Rockâ), Ace Frehely (lead guitar on âBump and Grindâ), and Eric Carr (drums on âLegends Never Dieâ) from KISS among others. The video produced and directed by Plasmatics creator Rod Swenson for the song 'It's My Life' from the album features Wendy in what some have called the most daring music video in the history of rock, doing a transfer from a moving car to an airplane on a rope ladder without a safety harness.
