'Afinidad,' never was the title more apt, is an album that documents the strong affinity between alto saxophonist David Binney and pianist Edward Simon. It is amazing how two artists who differ in musical background and cultural formation manage to find true common ground through jazz's most modernist approach, namely its umbilical link to Latin music. Binney and Simon do not divide or subdivide the task, but develop an integrated creative process as the fruit of the experience of two different musical personalities.
