Sonic Artifact is an electronic odyssey, a love song to the infinite cosmos wrapped inside a paean to deep space.

Whenever they could find time, the two beavered away on the track, first creating a soundbed with Moog, electric Tanpura, sequenced synthesizers, Tuvan throat singing and Igil. Melodica and field recordings from the forests were added to this song structure, and downtuned guitar was recorded through a massive tube amplifier and cabinet to create the drones at the end of the track. Finally Kimmo added traditional Finnish instrument the Kantele, and the track was done.

'Aside from being inspired by African music culture, dub reggae and the blues, I'm influenced by psychedelic rock and the musical subgenres of stoner rock and doom that Black Sabbath gave birth to, all known for their long continuous songs. For years I had the idea to start building an electronic song of one hour, but in the end it came to 35 minutes as not only did that length feel right, but it's also the amount of bass music that a 12' can uphold.' Dreadlock Tales is multi -instrumentalist, producer and sound system owner Kimmo Tyni. Inspired by Finland's rich nature and myths, especially the Kalevala, his skill in improvisation and interest in mysticism can be heard and felt on all of his productions, while his dubs have been dropped by a rich selection of DJs around the world.

Mikko Heikinpoika is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and music producer from Finland. He strives to create powerful performance experiences through merging the worlds of acoustic and electronic, integrating ancient vocal techniques, live looping, grounded rhythms and deep, heartfelt bass frequencies.

Together they have created an electronic epic that warps time and bass on their mystical mission to outer space.
