Stunning Documentary Film On AC/DC's Annus Horribilis
When the tragic news broke, in February 1980, that iconic vocalist and frontman Bon Scott had passed away, the rock world went into shock. This young man - still only 33 years old - had been at the helm of AC/DC for less than six years, but in that time, he had become one of the finest and best loved lead vocalists in rock music. Some years later Classic Rock Magazine ranked Scott No.1 in a list of the '100 Greatest Frontmen of All Time'
Following this appalling event AC/DC briefly considered disbanding, but the group recruited vocalist Brian Johnson of the British glam rock band Geordie. AC/DC's subsequent album, Back in Black, was released only five months later, and was a tribute to Bon Scott. It went on to become the third best-selling album in history.
This documentary film recounts the bizarre events, superb music and quite extraordinary changes that occurred for AC/DC in 1980. And with the help of rare archive, live and studio footage, expert opinion from those close to the band at the time and from the world's best rock writer, and photographs seldom seen before, this program becomes perhaps the best film to yet emerge on this year of turbulence in the career of AC/DC.
