Finnish pianist Aki Rissanen presents Imaginary Mountains, the fifth release with his long-standing trio featuring double bassist Antti Lötjönen and drummer Teppo Mäkynen -- two of the most sought-after musicians in Nordic jazz. The trio's dynamic interplay, razor-sharp intuition, and forward-looking aesthetic have made them a defining force in contemporary European jazz.

Originally classically trained, Rissanen (b. 1980, Kuopio, Finland) has long been recognized for his refined technique, harmonic sophistication, and deep musical curiosity. His interest in improvisation led him from the conservatory to stages across Europe, earning top honors in the Montreux Solo Piano Competition and the La Défense Jazz Competition in France.

Over the years, Rissanen has released seven albums under his own name and collaborated with renowned artists such as Dave Liebman and Verneri Pohjola, releasing music on leading European labels including Edition Records, ACT Music, and Ozella Music. His previous albums on Edition have garnered international critical acclaim for their blend of intricate composition, spontaneous dialogue, and Nordic lyricism.
