The trioAli Khandares to experiment in a very special way: it presents Pakistani Qawwali, the spiritual music of Sufi music, in a modern dancefloor guise. The band was rewarded with a WAMMIE nomination for this daring venture. Sukhewat Ali Khan and his sister Riffet Salemet were born singing Qawwli. Ali Khan, completed by guitarist and producer Richard Michos to form a trio and strengthened by numerous guests such as didgeridoo master Stephen Kent on the longplayer 'Teswir'. Ali Khan underlay the Qawwali with dance grooves and a rocking guitar sound, but in doing so they want to commit anything but sacrilege.
