Guastavino's musical output is an intimate expression of his own personality. His works are simple, humble and imbedded with a capacity to inspire wonder. In his music we so often find a combinatin of folkloric elements, inspired by the need to paint a picture, to freely express his emotions. Guastavino wrote many large scale works. But it was in his songs and works for piano that first brought him great recognition. He was an excellent pianist, performing his own music throughtout America, Europe and Asia.
