Description
American Warships is an explosive military science-fiction adventure that pits one of America's most legendary battleships against an enemy unlike anything the U.S. Navy has ever faced. As tensions in the Pacific reach the brink of war, American fighter jets suddenly fall from the sky, their electronics instantly disabled, and a devastating attack wipes out a U.S. carrier group. With North Korea and China appearing to be the obvious suspects, military forces mobilize for a confrontation that could ignite a global conflict. But the true threat is far more dangerous—and not of this world.
At the same time, the mighty USS Iowa is making what should be her final voyage before becoming a floating museum. Restored with much of her World War II-era equipment, the historic battleship unexpectedly finds herself at the center of the crisis. While sophisticated modern warships and aircraft are crippled by powerful electromagnetic attacks, the Iowa's old-school technology and massive conventional firepower allow her to remain operational. Suddenly, an aging battleship designed for another era may be humanity's best defense against a technologically superior enemy.
Captain Winston (Mario Van Peebles) and intelligence officer Caroline Bradley (Johanna Watts) initially suspect an advanced enemy vessel equipped with cloaking technology. As the Iowa engages the seemingly invisible attacker and a Navy SEAL team undertakes a dangerous mission to uncover its secrets, the crew discovers that they are confronting an extraterrestrial war machine capable of changing the balance of power on Earth. With modern defenses neutralized and time running out, Winston and his crew must rely on ingenuity, courage and the Iowa's legendary armor and enormous guns for one last battle.
