In 1859, the Austrian opera singer Franz Xaver Hauser made a remarkable find in an attic: he discovered a manuscript of Bach's 'Six Sonatas for Violin and Obbligato Harpsichord', the oldest surviving copy of these works to date. On this CD, Anaïs Chen, baroque violin, and Alexandra Ivanova, harpsichord, take a passionate, highly differentiated approach to the sonatas that is absolutely stunning.
