At the turn of this new Millennium I found I wanted to ask some marvellous Finnish composers I know to set Eino Leino's poems to music. Why Leino, of all poets? I'll quote J. Siljo's description of Leino's text:'They ore, above all, sonorous, lyricalcompositions, as if born to be set to adance rhythm. They have no other purposebut to jingle and rejoice of their own will.'{Hannu Mäkelä: Eino Leino}Kaija Saariaho, Sebastian Fagerlund, Jouni Kaipainen, 0lli Kortekangas, Jyrki Linjama, Riku Niemi and P.
